Xaghra, Gozo, Malta

Xaghra is a small town in the middle of the island of Gozo. The main attraction is the Ggantija prehistoric temples just outside of town. After we had visited the temples, we came to the town square for lunch. The town square is dominated by Our Lady of Victories Church.

The town is also home to Oleander's, a popular local spot for authentic Maltese cuisine. We had a good (though casually-paced) lunch there. Back outside, we saw some more of the plaza and the exterior of the church. The church was closed for siesta. It has some fine statues and plaques outside.

The streets are clean and straightforward. They definitely give the sense of the peaceful island life of the locals.

After lunch, we went to visit the Ta'Kola Windmill, also in town. We visited a playground too, which will be tomorrow's post!
