Main Street Strikes Back, Ellicott City, Maryland

Old Ellicott City in Maryland celebrated May the Fourth on May the Eighth (the Saturday after) with MAIN STREET STRIKES BACK. I'm not sure how long this link will last, it may already be broken like a Death Star at the end of the movie. The organizers had a scavenger hunt with the reward being a poster...a poster of the Death Star's schematics!

Many Bothans died to get us this information!

We got the plans at the end of the trek. We started our adventure (after parking) by visiting Axguard, which was supposed to have Boba Fett's helmet inside. We saw some people throwing axes, which seems like the sort of place you might find bounty hunters.

"Stay on target!"

Before finding the head of the Fett, we found the ship of the Han. A Lego Millennium Falcon was tucked away in a corner.

"You came here in that? You're braver than I thought!"

We did find a whole shelf of Imperial shame, including Fett's helmet.

Humiliation via Ewok has to be the worst!

Axguard also has a VR room where some kids were having lightsaber shenanigans. The lady who works there said they do various VR games and escape room-type games as well. We may have to come back to try them out!

On the way to the next site, we spotted a cool and refreshing spring garden. Not many garden planets in the Star Wars franchise.

Herbaceous!

Further on, we discovered my kind of garden.

Too bad it wasn't open

Near the beer garden was supposed to be one of the restaurants with a highly thematic menu. Google maps had it right next door but all we saw was a bunch of buildings. My son was clever enough to discover a secret staircase down to the cafe we were looking for.

A narrow escape

A middle-aged Jedi was just behind us and saw me take the above picture. He offered to take a group photo for us. Clearly, he was on the light side!

"Let me take this mask off, so I can see you with my own eyes."

The rain came in Force as we stood in line for a snack.

The line wasn't this far back, it's just a picture from further away!

We chose this cafe to visit because how can you resist a menu like this?

We certainly couldn't, that's why we ordered Wookie Cookies and Yoda Soda.

No, it didn't taste like chicken!

Bubbly goodness a Jedi craves!

The only open tables nearby were the ones without umbrellas. A trio was playing music but stopped because of the rain. The rain got worse, as in it turned into a meteor shower! Well, there was some hail. Luckily, we had gotten far enough away that we could shelter under an awning.

Our next stop was Gamers Corps. That's where we turned in the scavenger hunt sheet (which was actually just a crossword puzzle that I figured out the night before) and did some shopping.

Gamers Corps

The shop was hosting tournaments in various Star Wars games, including Armada (capital ships fighting each other), X-Wing (small ships fighting each other), and Legion (individual characters fighting each other). I took a picture of the Legion set-up which was the most impressive of the three.

The shop people were friendly and let us shelter until the rain stopped. We looked at the various games, dice, and miniatures on sale. We bought a Mother's Day gift and also some tickets for games they were raffling off, including Star Wars Outer Rim. We didn't win any games but we had a fun day!
