Whiteparish, England

We stayed at an AirBnB in Whiteparish, England, a small town between Salisbury and Southhampton. The main attractions for us were the local church and the nearby playground.

The church is All Saints', in the heart of the village. The original church was built by the Saxons before AD 1000. In the 1300s the church was expanded with Gothic and Early English elements. Most of the nave is from this period, with a higher, barrel-shaped roof (good for acoustics!). In the late 1800s, there was more rework and expansion, including adding the porch (the entrance on the side of the church) and widening the aisles.

One of the gravemarkers in the church has some "editing" on it...a word was deleted. Apparently, the fellow was flogged but later, more sympathetic descendants took the word out. 

"****" means something different in British English

The town's playground was a lot of fun for our kids.
