More pictures that didn't make their own post...
Preschool class was canceled one Friday because of a pipe bursting, which was a bummer. But that did mean we could go to story time at the library. Unfortunately, it was also a very snowy morning, making the drive a little scary. We arrived just before story time was supposed to start. Only one other child was there at the beginning, though people trickled in for the first twenty minutes. The the word of the week was "dogs" so we had a dog-related craft.
My daughter used one of her Christmas presents (a gift card) to buy butterscotch beer, a knock-off of the non-alcoholic butterbeer of Harry Potter fame. She shared it with her brother; they liked it a lot.
We had some random pictures from our New York trip in February. Down in the Battery Park area is a large statue of a bull, much like the Merrill Lynch bull. A lot of people were lined up for a picture in the front--too many for us to bother with waiting. We took a side shot of beef.
We wanted to ride the Staten Island Ferry to get a closer look at the Statue of Liberty. We arrived at the ferry terminal five minutes after the boat departed. The next ferry was half an hour later, so we decided not to wait.
For dinner, I ordered a eggplant parmesan hero from a local Italian eatery. I thought it would be a lighter sandwich after a day of driving. Boy, was I wrong. Here's half the sandwich, with my daughter's hand for size comparison.
We ordered a pizza (or as the guy referred to it, "A pie") the next night at it was delightful. Sorry Chicago, your pizza is not as good.
The library had a Winter Science program for preschoolers and our prescholar attended one of the classes. It was about polar bears. We experienced how the bears protect themselves from the cold with a layer of fat. First, we held ice cubes in our bare hands. Then, we "put on a layer of fat" by holding some unidentified fatty substance in a baggie and holding the ice cube on top of that. Sure enough, it didn't feel cold!
We also glued a polar bear onto some icebergs as a craft.
The day after was another snow storm, which led to sledding.
