We went to a Krispy Kreme for a donutty snack in North Myrtle Beach. Their donut-cooking machine was in action, so we took some pictures. My favorite was the flipping machine though it was too hard to take a picture through the windows.

We visited Heritage Shores Nature Preserve to find some geocaches. The preserve was fun in other ways too. We saw some crabs and oysters alive in the water. Someone left a great sign in sea shells.

An interesting thing about the area is the mini-inlets between every street. All the houses are waterfront property!

After a yummy dinner at Tidewater Grill, we went for ice cream on Main Steet at a place called Melt. The street is very charming, but not as great as the ice cream served there. I had Salted Caramel, which I liked a lot. My youngest had Cookie Monster ice cream, blue with chocolate chip cookie bits inside. My wife's Brown Butter Bourbon also tasted delicious. The store had a good variety of yummy products.

One of the venues we visited on Main Street is Fat Harold's Beach Club. It's a restaurant/bar whose main feature is the dance floor. Carolina Shag is danced here almost every day. We came on a Tuesday night, when they had the beginner lesson. The lesson was a lot of fun, with good instructors and a typical crowd (twice as many women as men!). The only problem the length-to-content ratio--they taught only the basic step in an hour and a half! We had fun dancing there.

We had a delicious German dinner at Horst Gasthaus. The interior is very much like many other German restaurants we've been to, including those in Germany!

They offered a very good variety of beers. I tried the Maisel's Weisse beer, a wheat beer that was excellent. It also went well with my house special diced pork and vegetables.

We went to Molten Mountain, a double-course miniature golf venue with 18 holes outside and 18 holes indoors. The theme is a Mexican volcano. Since a few of us were sunburned, we thought we'd try out the course inside of the volcano.
We had fun playing. According to the score card every hole is par 2, which seemed impossible for us amateur golfers. My daughter was able to sink the most pars 2, earning her the moniker "Two-Shot." The rest of us did not get any cool names.
Each hole has a funny sign giving some golfing advice or volcano advice.
The shop had the usual snacks and trinkets for sale. I was a little surprised by the Mermaid Squeezy Shells. Somehow, I think people would get in trouble if they tried to squeeze a mermaid's shells.

What are they teaching kids these days? |
