We had a brief stayover in Lyon, France, on our way to Switzerland. Near our lodgings was a playground that was suspiciously empty during the day. We think the local kids were still in school!
Familiar equipment |
Spider-man in training |
Another rope bridge |
Fun in general |
Next to the playground is the Church of the Sacred Heart. They were planning on building something akin to Montemarte in Paris but funding ran out. It's still impressive inside.
Exterior |
Nave |
Main altar |
Organ |
The church has a lot of statues. I recognized many a French saint.
Sacred Heart of Jesus |
St. Anne altar |
St. Joseph |
St. John Marie Vianney |
St. Therese of Lisieux |
The Stations of the Cross follow the same classic style as the statues in the church.
First Station, Jesus is Condemned to Death |
The architecture in general follows the classical style.
Ornate columns and capitals |
A bit of the ceiling |
We enjoyed our brief stay though we did not get to see any of the more famous sites. Hopefully we will visit again!
