Heart of Stone (2023) directed by Tom Harper
Rachel Stone (Gal Gadot) is the tech member of an MI6 tactical quartet who go on covert missions for the British Government. She's also a field agent for the Charter, an even secreter secret agency that has been manipulating various international events to create beneficial outcomes. They achieve this by using The Heart, an ultra-sophisticated computer system that can and does hack into every electronic resource on the planet. It even plans missions in detail, providing the most likely paths to a successful outcome. Stone risks her cover to save her MI6 team during an Alpine operation where they are going to capture a reclusive bad guy. The mission's results reveal a much deeper sinister plot--a group that wants to take down the Charter and is willing to use any means to achieve their end.
The plot is a little thin (like a lot of the middle-era James Bond films) but is a great excuse for exciting chases and fights (like almost all the Bond films). The action moves through a lot of international locations (again, typical for Bond). Gadot is a solid performer but she doesn't need to carry the film since everyone else does a good job with their characters and are believable in their fight scenes. The film is not going to win any awards. It wasn't made to. It's very entertaining as a summer action blockbuster.
Recommended for a spy-action-thriller.
