In the on-going effort to keep busy and out of trouble this past summer, we decided to try making home-made Pop Tarts.
The first step was to make the inside of the tart. We went with strawberry flavor, mixing some berries and sugar and reducing them on the stove to a ketchup-like substance.
The next step was making the pastry dough and cutting it into just the right sizes.
With the base level ready, it was time to add the filling layer.
The final prep step was adding the top.
Oven baking was probably the easiest part of the task.
The next step was making icing to frost each pop tart.
Drawing boxes to fill made it easier to have squarish shapes on top. The only part left was adding sprinkles before the icing dried completely.
I can assure you, the results were delicious!
