Kinder Farm Park is part of the Anne Arundel County parks system. During the Covid Summer, admission was free on the weekdays so we thought we'd take advantage. The park features a fabulous playground and, as you might guess from the name, a farm. The farm animals are taken care of by 4H volunteers from Anne Arundel County.
Since I brought the kids, our first stop was the playground.

Ropes course at the playground |
My youngest got the most out of it, especially climbing up various rope challenges.

Going uphill the hard way |

The other two kids racing uphill |

Another web-like challenge |

Finally looking at the camera |

Close up of the same! |
Another area featured little riders that were probably too small for my daughter. The dual riders turned out to be fun.

Having fun together |
The other part of the park is the farm. Some buildings were converted to other uses, like the closest building to the playground. That was turned into indoor bathrooms.
|
Bathrooms! |
Further on are more farm buildings and, much more exciting for the kids, farm animals!
|
The farm |
We had the impression that goats were the number one animals on the farm. We saw three different pens with goats!

Less shy goats |
Since we got in for free, we made a donation at the cute donation station.
|
Money here! |
We saw the cow barn but not any cows.
|
Where's the beef? |
One building housed half turkeys and half chickens. I mean, one side was for turkeys, the other for chickens. They are not performing crossbreeding experiments.
|
Maybe this is a hybrid turkey/chicken?!? |
|
The Thirsty Turkey--I think I saw a pub with this name in England |
|
A rooster, not a chicken! |
The main farm house has an ice house in the front yard. Back in the day, ice was collected in the winter and stored underground so it would last through the summer.

Back of the farm house |
The farm house is surrounded by all the animal houses. We were surprised to see these pigs laying around out in the sunshine up against a building they could easily go inside and not be in the sunshine. I guess they don't worry about getting sunburned!
|
Pigs not in the house |
A nearby building also housed pigs.
|
Smarter pigs |
Further in we found sheep who were even smarter than the smart pigs.
|
Food silos |
|
Sheep eating in the shade |
|
Such cute sheep! |
The back of the farm had some big fields where we thought we'd see the cows. Nope, the goats were spreading.
|
King of the hill |
|
That's a big field for just one goat! |
They even have an old-fashioned tractor that was fenced off, probably to protect the tractor from us visitors.
|
Jailed for crimes too heinous to mention |
The park also has sports fields and a perimeter trail that we did not explore, though maybe we will come back with bikes. It's paved, so it's perfect for two wheeling.
