The zombie kills in this episode were surprisingly mild, though the one freshly torn-off human leg was not a pleasant sight. A pair of zombies chow down on someone in the distance. The language is minimal but the issues dealt with are difficult ones.Synopsis & Review
After losing their ride to a bunch of zombies, Daryl and company have to find a new vehicle and a less obvious way into the veterinary college where they hope to find medicine for all the flu victims back at the prison. There's some nice character development for Michonne, Tyreese, that red-shirt guy whose name I can't remember, and Daryl. Daryl maybe the coolest character on the show now; he could easily take Rick's role as leader of the group.Since Daryl and company are late coming back to the prison, Rick and Carol head out on a supply run. And an extended discussion on Carol's new attitude and her confession. She's the one who killed Tyreese's sick girlfriend. Her intention was to save everyone else from getting the flu. Rick has clearly been mulling this over the whole time and as Carol gives more of her justifications and rationalizations he has to make a hard decision. The end of the episode is pretty powerful.
This episode is even more thoughtful and interesting than previous episodes, with plenty of character development. The zombie gore is toned way down (I'm surprised it is still rated TV-MA, but maybe the rating is applied to the whole season rather than episode by episode). I can't wait for more episodes like this!
